Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you remove a door to replace roller and carriages?

    Once rollers are de-adjusted, most doors can be lifted from tracks easily. Others require fixed panel or head pelmet to be removed. Take care with panels containing glass.

  • How do you remove the rollers?

    Place the door carefully on its side. Some carriages & rollers can be removed by unscrewing any screws retaining the bracket or housing and then slide out. Others require the removal of bottom rail. Take care when removing corroded screws. Bring the complete roller and carriages into our shop for the correct roller.

  • How do you replace the carriage and roller?

    They are replaced in the same manner as they were removed. Refit bottom rails if required. Remember to replace the glazing vinyl onto the glass before refitting the bottom rail.

  • Do we need to do anything to the track?

    Before refitting your door, it is important to reshape damaged tracks to suit new roller shape. Failure to reshape the track or remove any burrs can cause premature wear. Run the file lengthways down the track in a sweeping motion. Rotate the file with each stroke to recreate the dome shape on the track. Clean dirt and grease from the track area.

  • How do you adjust the door?

    It is important to adjust doors so that it is parallel to the frame on the lock side. To avoid undue stress to the carriages and rollers, take weight off door during adjustment. Adjust to lock in the door’s new position.

  • Anything else I need to know?

    Care should be taken to avoid breaking glass. Don’t force any locks or carriages. Examine component installation to avoid breakage on removal or refit. Don’t use grease, soap, lubrication sprays or powders as they only attract dirt.
